Our approach to programs

Tailored, tech-driven solutions that respond to real community needs

Through deliberate partnerships, we expand access to appropriate and tailor-made digital solutions that strengthen communities and improve their quality of life. We don't impose solutions — we co-design them.

Each program area is driven by evidence, guided by human-centered design, and measured by its impact on the people who need it most. Innovation is not the goal — improved livelihoods and dignified living are.

"Our programs advance a single purpose: to make digital tools, innovations, and technologies a bedrock for improved livelihoods and dignified living."

Health & Livelihoods

Advancing Technology Access for Well-Being

We invest in strategic partnerships that expand access to appropriate health technologies and digital health tools in underserved communities — youth, women, elderly, and refugees.

Youth Women School-goers Elderly Refugees Formal sector workers

Our approach ensures that technology innovation is not an add-on — but a foundational tool for preventing disease, empowering economically, restoring hope, protecting dignity, and improving lives across all age groups.

4 pillars of this program

Digital Health Access

By supporting locally led, tech-enabled, user-centered models, we improve service delivery, strengthen health systems, and promote long-term well-being across sectors.

Economic Resilience through Digital Tools

Through social design methodologies, we prioritise program innovations that use digital tools to address pressing challenges and strengthen livelihoods, while expanding economic opportunities.

Community Partnerships & Innovation

We invest in inclusive, community-centered partnerships that unlock local talent. Through digital innovation challenges and mentorship, youth, women, PWDs, and elders develop practical solutions.

Corporate Partnerships for Shared Impact

We engage corporate entities as key stakeholders in expanding access to sustainable digital tools. Through responsible investment and CSR collaboration, we align business innovation with community well-being.

Nature & Environment

Digital Innovation for Environmental Sustainability

We support program innovations that integrate digital technologies with conservation efforts — nurturing bold, context-appropriate solutions that protect natural and farm-based systems.

By combining innovation, education, and partnership, we reinforce the connection between environmental sustainability, improved livelihoods, and dignified living — while contributing meaningfully to Uganda's climate commitments and global SDG targets.

Digital Conservation Tools

Integrating digital monitoring and reporting tools with grassroots conservation efforts to protect natural systems in Uganda and beyond.

School-Based Innovation Challenges

Empowering students to design and prototype digital solutions for environmental challenges through structured, mentored innovation processes.

Community Environmental Education

Building awareness and practical skills in communities to drive behavioral change, waste reduction, and sustainable livelihoods from environmental stewardship.

Global SDG Alignment

All environmental programs are designed and evaluated against SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and other relevant global sustainability frameworks.

Agriculture

Digital Innovation for Resilient Agriculture

We support digital solutions that empower smallholder farmers, strengthen agricultural value chains, and build climate-resilient food systems. Through tech-enabled extension services and community-led innovation, we connect agriculture to dignified livelihoods.

Smallholder farmers grow most of the food consumed in Uganda — yet they remain the most exposed to climate shocks, volatile prices, and limited access to information. Our agriculture program treats digital tools as a means to restore dignity, income, and food security to the people who feed our communities.

Smart Farming Tools

Affordable digital tools that help smallholder farmers monitor crops, soil health, and weather — turning data into better decisions on the farm.

Tech-Enabled Extension Services

Mobile-first advisory platforms that connect farmers with agricultural expertise, market prices, and best-practice guidance in their local language.

Value Chain & Market Access

Digital marketplaces and traceability tools that link producers to buyers, reduce post-harvest losses, and unlock fairer income for farming households.

Climate-Resilient Innovation

Co-designed solutions for drought, pests, and shifting growing seasons — ensuring agriculture remains a viable livelihood as the climate changes.

How programs develop

From community challenge to scaled solution

Every Tekvera program follows a structured innovation pipeline — ensuring that solutions are evidence-based, community-informed, and tested before they scale.

1
Identify

We identify pressing community challenges through on-the-ground research, partner consultations, and data analysis.

2
Co-Design

We convene community members, experts, and partners to co-design solutions using human-centered design methods.

3
Prototype

Promising ideas are developed into low-fidelity prototypes — rapidly tested with the communities they are designed to serve.

4
Pilot

Validated prototypes enter a structured pilot phase — tracked for feasibility, usability, and measurable community impact.

5
Scale

High-potential innovations access growth capital through proposal development targeting local and international funders and strategic partnerships.

On the horizon

Two more program areas are in development

Our vision extends beyond two program areas. As we grow, deepen our partnerships, and demonstrate impact, we are building toward two additional focus areas — each responding to urgent community needs.
